I left Rose Marie a comment on how pretty it was and she wrote me back. I then asked her who the designer was and where she got the pattern so I could buy one for myself. Well, turns out she got the pattern from an old 2002 magazine. She looked for it but said she must have tossed it out ages ago. Disappointed, I started studying her quilt thinking I could figure out the design myself. When I wrote her again asking the size of the blocks, she told me that she looked again and found the old magazine with the pattern! And even better, she's making a copy and mailing it to me. How sweet is that???

A quilt just like that one was in the Fons & Porter magazine about 02 or 03 or 04. I still have that magazine some where.

I also have seen a quilt something like this one fairly recently and I also liked it--what colors are you going to do yours in???? I think it would be pretty in basic fall colors??

Phyllis, I totally agree! It's gorgeous! I'm guessing that the leaves are appliqued onto the blocks before they're joined together. Quick work for fusing and blanket stitch on a machine, but lots of hours for hand applique! A nice project for curling up before a fireplace all winter long!
I'm glad your blogging friend found the pattern. If she hadn't, I would have been pleased to draw one for you.
I just might actually try doing that and make a few blocks as a pillow top! This is so clever - love the split leaves!
